I’ll be the first to admit: I don’t often check my Voice123 account. Most of my auditions as a voice-over artist with an agent come through them. I know that everything is handled, and my agent is usually on top of things, so I’ve rarely felt the need to dive into that old profile of mine.
But sometimes, life has a funny way of shaking things up.
A while back, I found myself scrolling through my email and something in the back of my mind nudged me—“Maybe I should just check Voice123 today.”. There was no pressing need for it, no urgent audition that I was aware of. It was a random thought, something that popped into my head out of nowhere. But I listened to it, clicked the link, and logged in.
And to my surprise, there it was: an audition for a commercial with PathWaysOs.
It wasn’t a huge campaign. But it was an opportunity. And I figured, why not? So, I recorded my take, submitted it, and then… I waited. I almost forgot about it as life carried on.
Then, the email came. I got the part.
I couldn’t believe it. A simple, random decision to revisit an old account led to a commercial gig. It wasn’t just about booking the job—it was the reminder that sometimes the best opportunities come when we least expect them, and from places we’ve long ignored.
It made me reflect on how often we dismiss the "old" stuff—the things we think are no longer relevant, or the platforms we’ve outgrown. We get busy, we move forward, and we forget to check back in with what we’ve left behind.
So, here’s my takeaway: If you’ve got an account gathering dust, or an old project sitting idle, go back and give it a second glance. The past can still hold valuable lessons, connections, and—like me—a random commercial audition.
Kinda like joining substack!
Sometimes, you just need to listen to that little voice telling you to check back in. You never know what might be waiting for you.
